Job Description

Job Title: Community Manager

Location: Remote within US, Bay Area preferred

Company Overview

At CelerData, we empower organizations to unlock the full potential of their data with our next-generation, cloud-native, high-performance analytical database built for modern lakehouse architecture. Challenging the status quo set by products like Snowflake, ClickHouse, and Trino, we’re driving the future of data analytics by delivering unparalleled query performance and a streamlined architecture for enterprises worldwide. Join us to help customers transform their data into actionable insights and achieve exceptional technical success.

Job Overview

We are seeking a talented community manager to join our team to drive the next stage of expansion for CelerData’s rapidly growing StarRocks open source project. CelerData’s community manager will own the community experience for StarRocks users, and help CelerData’s marketing, sales, and engineering teams craft compelling content and activities that will make StarRocks a leading project when it comes to providing a user-focused experience.

Key Responsibilities

As Community Manager for CelerData, you’ll work closely with every part of CelerData’s business and its StarRocks open source community to develop and execute a plan to grow membership, increase engagement, and foster a supportive and exciting community experience. Your responsibilities include:

  • Events Expert - You’ll take the lead when it comes to planning events and bringing people and partners in the StarRocks community together. Working with our developer advocate and marketing team, you’ll operate as the primary point person for in-person and online meetups.
  • Community Organizer - Growing our open source community is a top priority and you’ll own the process. From identifying external communities we can partner with for growth to connecting with current members to brainstorm activities to drive member engagement, you’ll serve as our expert for understanding how we can build a large and sustainable community.
  • Bridge Builder - With the help of CelerData’s technical experts, you’ll play a key role in networking with managers and members of other relevant communities and creating introductions for our developer advocate and product team to use to start building bridges into those communities.
  • Developing a Healthy Open Source to Commercial Pipeline - You’ll collaborate closely with CelerData’s sales team to help identify commercial opportunities among our open source users while ensuring we maintain our commitment to maintaining a healthy open source community centered on supporting StarRocks and not just farming users for sales.

Qualifications

  • An Inclusive Mindset: You understand the value of creating an inviting and supporting community environment and know how to communicate with users in a way that helps them feel supported, appreciated, and keeps them engaged with StarRocks for the long term.
  • A Track Record of Growth : Growing and managing a community of thousands is right in your wheelhouse. You know what it takes to build and execute a community-building strategy.
  • An Affinity for Open Source : You appreciate the unique aspects of working with a technical open source community and can predict the needs and concerns of users operating in this space.
  • Logistics Expertise : It doesn’t matter if it’s a massive summit or an intimate meetup or webinar, you’re experienced and comfortable coordinating internal talent and resources, along with partners and the community, to come together to exchange ideas.
  • Experience: 2+ years in a community manager role, ideally working with communities related to data analytics, database, or cloud infrastructure.
  • Bonus Points:
  • Familiarity working with Slack-based communities.
  • Experience using tools like Common Room.
  • Event management or event marketing experience.
