Courses Descriptions

A1 Level: The Foundation

This is the starting point for complete beginners. The A1 level is designed for those with no prior knowledge of German. The main goal is to introduce you to the fundamentals of the language so you can handle simple, everyday situations.
  • Key skills: You’ll learn how to introduce yourself and others, greet people, and talk about personal topics like your home, family, and job. You’ll also learn to understand and use very basic words and sentences.
  • Grammar: You will be introduced to basic sentence structures and how to conjugate regular and irregular verbs in the present tense.
  • Outcome: By the end of this course, you will be able to communicate in a simple way, asking and answering basic questions.

A2 Level: The Beginner-Intermediate Step

Building on the foundation of A1, the A2 level expands your vocabulary and grammar. This level is for learners who can already communicate in a limited way and want to improve their fluency.
  • Key skills: You’ll expand your vocabulary to talk about daily routines, shopping, and giving directions. You’ll be able to understand short texts and write simple messages.
  • Grammar: You’ll learn about the simple past tense and more complex sentence structures.
  • Outcome: You will be able to exchange information on familiar topics and describe your immediate environment.

B1 Level: The Intermediate Milestone

The B1 level is often considered a significant milestone, as it marks the point where you gain independence in the language. At this stage, you can handle a wide range of situations and express your opinions.
  • Key skills: You’ll learn a wider range of vocabulary related to work, school, and hobbies. You will be able to understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters.
  • Grammar: The focus is on mastering verb tenses and more complex sentence structures, including conditional clauses.
  • Outcome: You will be able to confidently participate in most conversations you encounter while traveling or living in a German-speaking country. A B1 certificate is often a requirement for a preparatory college (Studienkolleg) or certain jobs.

B2 Level: The Upper-Intermediate Stage

At the B2 level, you are moving toward advanced proficiency. You can understand more complex ideas and engage in professional and academic conversations with greater ease.
  • Key skills: You will be able to understand complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in your field of specialization. You’ll learn how to express your ideas clearly, giving the advantages and disadvantages of a situation.
  • Grammar: This level focuses on mastering advanced grammatical structures like passive voice and complex conjunctions.
  • Outcome: You will be able to communicate spontaneously and fluently with native speakers. The B2 certificate is often required for admission to universities and for many professional roles in Germany.
