Job Description

For our state-of-the art 600+ person Lubbock, TX cheese and whey manufacturing facility, Leprino is seeking a Sr. Technical Supervisor, Nutrition .

Leprino Foods broke ground on the $1 Billion facility in the summer of 2022. The plant becomes operational in 2025 with Phase 1 and will become fully operational by 2026 with Phase 2.

The primary responsibility of the Senior Technical Supervisor is to improve the technical capability of the assigned production department(s) employees. The incumbent is responsible for managing training completion and final proficiency assessments, including but not limited to Manager, Supervisor, Team lead, and Operator assessments. The Senior Technical Supervisor collaborates effectively with the Corporate Technical Capability team to ensure plant specific training programs, Standard Work, and Work Instructions are accurate and high quality. In addition, the Senior Technical Supervisor works closely with the Technical Services, department manager(s) and shift supervisors to complete special project work, oversight of department specific make plans, improvement of process standard deviations, and is responsible for technical troubleshooting and problem solving. The incumbent works closely with the Department Manager(s) to ensure that products manufactured in the facility are of the highest quality and in constant alignment with customer specifications by providing technical expertise along with root cause analysis to examine process failures and eliminate future occurrences.

  • Mentor and develop existing employees to improve technical capability.
  • Completes final proficiency assessments for operators, supervisors, and managers.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Technical Capability to develop and deploy companywide production technical development solutions and procedures.
  • Evaluate current and future state of assigned processes to identify change impacts to knowledge, skills, and behavior and develop interventions designed to resolve gaps.
  • Ensure Standard Work and Work Instructions for the plant are high quality.
  • Provides ongoing technical support to production department employees by frequent assessments of production floor, processes, operational practices, and equipment in order to drive continuous improvement.
  • Provides leadership to the overall cross functional project management of the technical projects, ensuring trials, new product implementations and other R&D initiatives are completed on time and budget.
  • Identifies and implements innovative processes and technologies that continuously improve technical operations.
  • Collaboration with production leadership and business leaders to provide technical and operational expertise for plant operations to improve yield and efficiencies.
  • Oversight of production make plans and process standardization.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements that lead to cost reductions/savings

You Have At Least (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelors Degree in Food Science, Dairy Science/Technology, Engineering, Packaging or similar. A degree may be substituted with equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership and management experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a dairy manufacturing segment.

  • A Master’s degree in Food or Dairy Science, Food Technology, or Chemical Engineering including six (6) years as a production supervisor in a dairy manufacturing facility (cheese, yogurt, cream, or milk).
