Job Description
Forest Lake Area School District is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of School Bus Mechanic to join our Transportation Department.
Your Role Will Include:
- Diagnose vehicle problems based on driver complaints and inspections.
- Perform repair work with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with state and factory standards.
- Communicate with the Shop Foreman to obtain necessary parts.
- Inspect vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
- Report immediately to the Shop Foreman if additional work is needed, repairs are unnecessary, or repairs cannot be completed within the promised timeframe.
- Conduct road tests when required and refer unresolved issues to the Shop Foreman.
- Participate in training programs, school expectations, and district events.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Shop Foreman.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience or training in diesel or auto repair, or equivalent education, including hands-on experience repairing diesel vehicles such as engine repair and electrical diagnostics.
- CDL with passenger endorsement or ability to obtain upon hire.
- Ability to pass all pre-employment screenings.
- Ability to stand for up to 8 hours per day and lift up to 50 pounds (with assistance).
Salary and Benefits:
- Pay Range: $23.97 – $28.69 per hour , depending on experience.

- $250/month tool allowance.
Location & Shift Times:
- Transportation Center, 207 NW 6th Ave, Forest Lake, MN 55025.
- FT, 8 hours per day, Monday - Friday, 10 AM - 6:30 PM.
