SUMMARY

The Porter Co. seeks a Safety Manager responsible for upholding the high standards of safety we’ve set throughout the organization. The Safety Manager must be intuitive and able to take on difficult situations with a positive outcome. This individual will need to be very effective in the facilitation of information. You will need to be able to handle a variety of assignments at one time with an equal sense of urgency. This position requires someone who is detail oriented, self-sufficient and able to follow through.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following, but not limited to. Other duties will likely be assigned.

  • Perform continued active health and safety audits and inspections to on going projects and job sites to ensure employee protection
  • Implement and promote OSHA, Porter Co., Emcor, State and Federal safety programs
  • Evaluate working conditions and operational practices; routinely inspect work methods, environment and equipment to identify and correct health and safety hazards
  • Ensure conformance with established occupational health and safety issues, rules and requirements
  • Assist with all health and safety issues and investigate possible health and safety regulations, personal injuries and property damages
  • Compile and analyze data to identify the severity of accidents and hazards, then recommend corrective and remedial action
  • Respond to emergencies with urgency and take appropriate action as defined through Porter emergency planning
  • Adapt and change priorities quickly to help support project manager, superintendents and field personne

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • 2-5 years Construction Safety Management experience
  • Mechanical, HVAC, and commercial plumbing field experience preferred.
  • Knowledgeable of HVAC, piping, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Must have transportation to travel to different job sites (vehicle allowance available)

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of customer, employees, unions, government agencies, vendors and suppliers, and other contractor organizations.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to commute to field locations. The employee must have the ability to navigate around job site locations. There may also be the need to temporarily office at a jobsite location for a short or long period of time.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
