Children’s Nebraska, with the University of Nebraska College of Medicine, is currently recruiting a Medical Director of Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care . This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Cardiac Critical Care section of Children’s 32 bed variable acuity Cardiac Care Unit (CCU). This individual will provide leadership to promote high quality care delivered to all critical cardiac patients in the CCU. This individual will partner with leadership from CT Surgery, Cardiology, Critical Care, Nursing and Administration to lead efforts in faculty development, the creation and implementation of clinical programs and pathways as well as working with our quality improvement/ quality assurance team to ensure the highest quality environment for our patients and staff.
We seek an experienced, skilled individual with leadership strengths who will join the division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, that comprises of 11 cardiac intensivists, and 15 general intensivists. The CCU is part of the Dr. C.C. and Mable L. Criss Heart Center. Besides the cardiac intensivists, the current Criss Heart Center faculty consists of 3 cardiac surgeons, 30 cardiologists, and 6 cardiac anesthesiologists. The CCU is well supported by Advanced Practice Providers, and fellows from Cardiology and Critical Care Medicine.
The Dr. C.C. and Mabel L. Criss Heart Center at Children’s Nebraska provides care for patients of all ages, including fetuses, newborns, toddlers, preteens, adolescents, and adults with congenital heart disease (ACHD). Our multidisciplinary team treats the full range of congenital heart conditions. The Heart Center is a certified Aetna Institute of Excellence for pediatric congenital heart surgery. The Heart Center has a full complement of heart failure, VAD, and cardiac transplant programs. The hospital’s ECMO program is Platinum certified by ELSO. The Heart Center recently launched a bold strategic plan aimed at establishing our heart center as the destination of choice for pediatric cardiac care. Our outcomes are exceptional, and Patient Experience scores for the CCU are among the top in the United States consistently ranking above the 90th percentile.
