Low Voltage Data / AV Technician Lead

MOPA, LLC – Utah

Pay Range: $26.33 – $38.11 per hour + Performance-Based Bonuses. (based on experience, certifications, and knowledge)

Job Summary

MOPA is seeking an experienced Low Voltage Data / AV Technician Lead to lead installation crews on structured cabling, AV integration, and data communication projects. This position requires technical field expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to deliver high-quality, standards-compliant installations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can train technicians, coordinate field operations, and ensure system reliability for mission-critical clients.

Responsibilities
  • Lead installation teams on low-voltage cabling, AV, and network integration projects.
  • Coordinate project schedules, materials, and daily field operations.
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
  • Terminate, test, and certify Cat6, fiber, coax, and AV cabling.
  • Install, configure, and test network switches, racks, AV systems, and control interfaces.
  • Ensure all installations meet NEC, BICSI, and manufacturer standards.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and project managers.
  • Train and mentor technicians on proper installation, safety, and documentation practices.
  • Maintain project progress reports and assist with system testing and commissioning.
  • Enforce safety compliance and maintain a clean, organized job site.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in low-voltage, structured cabling, or AV integration.
  • Minimum 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
  • BICSI Level 1 Certification required; BICSI Level 2 preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of structured cabling, AV systems, and data network infrastructure.
  • Proficiency with cable testing and certification tools (Fluke, fiber scope, etc.).
  • Must possess personal hand tools for low-voltage work.
  • Valid driver’s license with minimal or no points.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must pass a BCI background check and pre-employment drug screening.
  • OSHA 10 Certification is required within 30 days of hire, and OSHA 30 Certification is required within six months.
  • Must be willing to travel throughout Utah.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of job-site safety and compliance standards.
  • Skilled in Structured Cabling, Audio/Video, CCTV, Access Control, DAS, IP Networks, and VoIP systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex network or AV issues.
  • Effective communicator and team leader.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Hourly Pay: $26.33 – $38.11 (based on experience, certifications, and education).

Schedule: Monday to Thursday. Typically, statewide travel as required
