Job Description

The Structures Division of the H&K Group, Inc. is looking for a Driver with a Class B CDL to deliver fixtures of wood, plywood, and other supplies on the jobsite operating a single axle truck with a flatbed . The Driver will support bridge and other structural projects throughout Northeast PA and the Lehigh Valley and then transition to a $300M+ project on I-81 in Susquehanna County, PA, and Broome County, NY.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  

• Performs all work adhering to OSHA, DOT, and H&K Safety policies.
• Develop skills and knowledge including but not limited to:
  • Maintenance of single-axle trucks meeting requirements for PA CDL
  • General knowledge of laws, regulations, and operation of such vehicles
  • Perform a pre-trip inspectionand be able to explain what is inspected and why
  • Maneuver and control the vehicle in a safe fashion
  • Handle the vehicle in onsite and on-the-road situations
    • Signaling, searching for hazards, controlling speed, lane positioning, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills, Education, and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent (such as the GED) from an accredited educational institution
• Class B CDL with at least 1 year of single-axle driving experience
• Clean driving record
• Customer Service and Teamwork
• Strong Verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
• Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience

• 3 years of commercial driving experience
• Strong preference for 3 years of single-axle driving experience
• Manual transmission experience
• Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries
• MSHA, OSHA or other relevant safety certifications
