Job Title: Senior Contracts Manager / Senior Supply Chain Consultant

Pay Rate Range: around $70-$85/hr

Duration: 6-8 months (contract to potential perm)

Schedule: Hybrid (3 days min in office / 2 days from home)

Location: Houston, TX

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Contracts Manager / Supply Chain Consultant to support a major Canadian-based construction project. This individual will bring a deep understanding of large-scale, multi-billion-dollar construction contracts and be adept at leading contract management teams across diverse project execution models (EPCM, EPC, PMC). Familiarity with contracting frameworks such as NEC and FIDIC is essential.

The role requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders, external partners, and industry suppliers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supplier and subcontractor sourcing, capability assessments, and qualification processes. Prior experience working under Canadian law, with local content requirements, and engaging with Canadian regulatory bodies, First Nations groups, and regional supply chains is strongly preferred.

This position is based in Houston, TX , supporting the U.S.-based project team in the short term, with the potential for a longer-term role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement contracting strategies in alignment with client goals and project execution plans.
  • Oversee compliance with subcontract terms and conditions, including monitoring and reporting mechanisms.
  • Lead contract management teams to establish systems, procedures, and controls in line with corporate and project standards.
  • Analyze contract language to identify risks such as ambiguities or deviations; propose mitigation strategies to Project Management and clients.
  • Collaborate with project teams to identify and address actions that may lead to compensation events or claims.
  • Review and interpret financial data from contracts to support budget development and KPI tracking.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and apply best practices in contract management.
  • Conduct contract reviews and audits to identify risk areas and process enhancement opportunities.
  • Share lessons learned and success stories with corporate contracts teams to help evolve tools, training, and resources.

Technical Expertise:

  • Strong proficiency in the end-to-end (sub)contracting lifecycle, including pre-qualification, bidding, evaluations, awards, performance monitoring, and dispute resolution.
  • Familiarity with both U.S. and Canadian contractual frameworks, including NEC, FIDIC, JCT, and ICE contract forms.
  • Capable of drafting and reviewing commercial terms, payment milestones, LD clauses, and risk-related provisions (e.g., force majeure).
  • Ability to align and coordinate with cross-functional teams such as engineering, procurement, construction, safety, project controls, and scheduling.
  • Skilled in analyzing complex contract risks, including exposure to tariffs and penalty clauses, and developing risk mitigation strategies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 10 years' experience in Contracts Management/Administration; or 15+ years of equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale budgets and complex stakeholder environments.
  • Expertise in contract pricing, negotiation, drafting, and change order administration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Thorough understanding of both home office and field-based contract administration in multi-discipline construction projects.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Significant experience working in Canadian regulatory, legal, and supply environments.
