Job Description

Our client is hiring a Horizontal Boring Mill Operator to support precision machining operations in their manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience with large workpieces, close-tolerance boring, and setup procedures. You will contribute to the mission of producing high-quality hydraulic components and custom fabrications with integrity and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual and CNC horizontal boring mills, including facing heads and rotary tables
• Interpret complex blueprints, schematics, GD&T symbols, and machining drawings
• Align and secure fixtures, jigs, and workpieces using hoists, clamps, and micrometer-level measurements
• Measure finished parts using precision instruments (dial indicators, bore gauges, CMM, etc.) to verify tolerances
• Document machining operations, adjustments, and inspection results for traceability and quality control
• Collaborate with welders, fabricators, and engineers to optimize part design for manufacturability
• Maintain machine cleanliness and perform routine lubrication, coolant checks, and basic maintenance
• Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and lock-out/tag-out procedures to uphold a safe work environment

Qualifications

• 3–5 years experience operating horizontal boring mills (G&L, Toshiba, or similar platforms preferred)
• Familiarity with hydraulic components, large weldments, or heavy steel fabrication
• Proficient in blueprint reading and machine setup
• Experience with CNC conversational programming (e.g., Fanuc or Heidenhain) is a plus
• Strong understanding of shop math, trigonometry, and spatial reasoning
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate overhead cranes and forklifts
• Comfortable standing, bending, and moving for extended periods
• Must be able to handle large, irregularly shaped parts and heavy tooling safely
