Now Hiring: CAD Designer – Mechanical / Defense Projects

Location: On-site | Detroit, MI

Job Type: Full-Time | Hourly | Compensation: DOE

Milton Manufacturing, a Detroit-based leader in defense contracting, is seeking a talented CAD Designer with a mechanical or electro-mechanical background to support high-impact, mission-critical projects. As part of our Special Projects division, you'll work at the intersection of precision engineering and national defense—bringing complex systems from concept to reality using cutting-edge CAD tools.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Develop and manage detailed parametric 3D models and technical drawings in PTC CREO (Design Elements & Design Advanced)
• Design weldments, assemblies, and components using high-strength steels and high-nickel alloys
• Create and deliver CAD Technical Data Packages (TDPs) up to Level III , following TACOM standards and MIL-STD-31000
• Provide engineering documentation that supports quality assurance, fabrication, and program delivery
• Collaborate across departments to meet internal and external standards, including ASME Y14.100M

What You Bring:

• U.S. Citizenship (required for ITAR compliance)
• 3+ years of experience designing welded mechanical components and assemblies (preferably for off-highway or defense vehicles)
• Advanced proficiency with CREO (parts, assemblies, drawings) and modeling best practices
• Experience with SolidWorks
• Strong knowledge of TACOM modeling conventions , MIL-STD-31000 , and GD&T
• Familiarity with off-highway or military vehicle systems (wheeled and/or tracked)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with military or armored vehicle platforms
• Prior exposure to ITAR-regulated projects
• Active security clearance (a plus, not required)
• Proficiency in Windchill or other PLM systems
• Knowledge of FEA or structural analysis tools
