Job Description

Title: Medical Billing Technician

Terms of Employment:

• Contract, 12 Months (Possible Extension)

• This position is hybrid – to start. Candidates must be able to work onsite at the Owings Mills, MD office on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The role is expected to transition to 100% remote after the initial couple of months.

Overview & Responsibilities:

Join the Billing and Collections team at a leading health insurance provider as a Billing Technician. In this fast-paced, 100% call center role, you will be the primary point of contact for members, handling a high volume of inbound calls to resolve billing issues and provide exceptional customer service. This role offers a supportive training period and a clear path to becoming fully remote. You will…

• Handle approximately 30-35 inbound calls per day to assist members with their billing and account inquiries.

• Process member payments and refunds accurately and in accordance with company guidelines.

• Examine member billing histories to identify and resolve discrepancies.

• Clearly explain account details, payment histories, and billing procedures to members.

• Accurately document all call details and actions taken in the company's system.

Required Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in a high-volume call center environment.

• 2+ years of billing experience, specifically within the healthcare or health insurance industry.

• Superior customer service and communication skills.

• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

• Must own a personal laptop (PC preferred) and have a private, suitable environment for working from home.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Direct knowledge of or exposure to enrollment and billing procedures.

• Familiarity with medical coding or insurance claims processes.

• Experience using specialized billing or CRM software in a healthcare setting.
